New Seasonal Cufflinks!

Just in time for the Holidays, it’s the latest addition to the Sonia Spencer’s seasonal color palette. Because you can’t show up to Christmas dinner wearing Summer shades, how embarrassing would that be? See them here!

Mini Yule Log

When you think about the holidays, nothing comes to mind except great food, great company, coziness, and burning wood (and a gin+tonic for that inner holiday warmth). At least, most would think =)
Luckily, I found some alternative solutions to give me the above said satisfactions.

Inner Warmth
Gin, a great spirit that just screams holiday + it’s classy. I’m hooked on this nice beverage to relax with thanks to PJ. These fun gin+tonic cubes, designed by Jason Amendolara for Fred & Friends, are sure to be a hit at your next party (when you need to sink a rough day of work). [Available at PureModern]

Burning Wood
I came across these cool wood incense blocks from a friend and had to get the whole set of scents. The burn time is not long, but just right for a subtle scent of burning wood to linger throughout your home. These mini yules are available in Pinon (Pine), Juniper (Gin), Mesquite, Cedar, Alder, Fir Balsam, and Hickory. [Get them at Incienso de Santa Fe]

Massive iPhone “Connect Table” Prototype

The Microsoft Surface is nifty but I would happily take one of these as well. via.

A brief glimpse at our keyboarding future

Microsoft recently unveiled a prototype for their Adaptive Keyboard - one which incorporates a full LCD screen with touch capabilities - and rather than developing their own brand of broken tech for it, wisely held a contest in several categories to a collection of students at the User Interface Software and Technology symposium. The folks at Tested recently took a look at the winners and it sounds like an exciting future.

Crumpled City Map (!!!)

It feels odd crediting this idea to someone. After all, I’m pretty sure that I came up with the idea for a crumpled map along with anyone else on the world who’s ever tried to fold one. However, full credit is due to Emanuele Pizzolorusso for the (brilliant) idea of printing a map on the waterproof and virtually indestructible Tyvek material. via.

Authentic Canadian Cabin for Fluffy Creatures

Everyone knows that cats love boxes (see below) but who wants to keep an unsightly old box around just for the sake of their cat’s enjoyment (again, see below). Hey I’m no grouch but they can be ugly! With that in mind, give your cats their own space with Loyal Luxe’s Canadian Cabin for Fluffy Critters, a modern take on the classic “used box your cat sits in and refuses to get up from.”

Kind of Cool / Kind of Creepy Camera Bag

Now here’s a clever way to disguise an expensive SLR camera for anyone who doesn’t also own a pair of scissors. The Cloak Bag has some obvious safety advantages, good for traveling and taking high quality photos in sketchy areas. Seems like it has some other slightly disconcerting uses that I don’t care to mention. Fair to say there’s probably two distinct markets for this. via.

The Vue Series Watches - NEW from Issey Miyake

Here’s a few late additions from our recent revival of modern watches from Issey Miyake (among others) - it’s the Vue Series designed by Yves Behar based around the idea of simplicity. They ask “why do I need to see all twelve numbers when only one is needed?” Hard to argue that. Unless of course, if you are wearing a digital watch. But for our analog friends they’re available with a stainless or leather band in an array of colors to match your style. View our full collection of Issey Miyake here.

Adaptable Adaptor Outlet

It’s no secret I love new power outlet tech - it’s fascinating to see the continual improvement of a product we use and interact with everyday. So flipping around on Quirky after yesterday’s post, I was delighted to find this excellent piece of malleable design, the “Power Pivot” Power Adaptor. Great for confined spaces and odd-shaped adaptors - see it here.

Boiling Water Alert!!

The perfect kitchen helper for the lazy multitasking chef, it’s the Boil Buoy now available for pre-sale over at Quirky. It’s a borderline ludicrous invention, but I can’t possibly be the only one out there to set a pan of water on the stove only to forget about it, come back later and find an empty dish. Now I just need to learn to cook…

Just kidding! Find silly prank gift boxes for your friends and family at Prank Pack. The joke is probably on us however, with similar devices already available for smartphones, it’s most likely only a matter of time before this is a reality. via.

The Idiot-Proof Boomerang Wok

Here’s a great idea that’s not just for fans of stir-fry, the Boomerang Wok from Nikolaï Carels makes it easy to quickly flip a large filet of meat without the need to lift the pan or use extra tools. And the best part? It easily keeps your ingredients off of your cooking surface and in the pan where they belong. via.
