So I’m not a huge fan of silly novelty items like this, although they may be good for a laugh from time to time. However, this roll of Glow in the Dark “Loo Paper” manages a nice mix of usefulness and whimsy that’s almost enough to take it seriously (it’s a stretch, I know). For the sake of this blurb we’ll just assume it’s completely non-toxic - now this is the kind of space age advancement I think we’ve all been waiting decades for.
Here’s an interesting idea created by Decker Yeadon with sustainability in mind. If you can look beyond all the typical pratfalls that would result from cutting leg-sized holes in your floor (they can be easily patched when not in use), you’ll find the OOoo Chair is a forward thinking idea that may just be ahead of it’s time. My only issue: if this is done for conservation of materials, wouldn’t you be essentially building two floors? Or would your legs simply dangle there ominously? via.

A very cool shopping innovation from TeamLab, I hate this phrasing but “Smart” Hangers that will alert nearby video displays and show you coordinating clothes and accessories. Kind of like online “Related Items” for the real world. They have already confirmed “heavy interest from the top retailers” so if nothing else, this will take us one step closer to the futuristic shopping utopias we were promised. via dvice.
Some interesting discussion seen over at Erik Askin’s design portfolio on how inefficient packaging may help discourage people from smoking cigarettes. Basically making life for them “subtly harder” - one step beyond the standard warning label. Smokers are already an ornery bunch, so torturing them further is an amusing idea… But I’m thinking this could be better served on something with a more immediate danger, like alcohol. For starters, how about child proof caps ("drunk proof") on beer and liquor? Whoa, wait. How many lives did I just save?
Space Invaders has always one of those seminal favorites that inspires a feverish amount of fan art and craftwork. But a couple of nifty designs have been circling the blog-o’space lately that merit some attention:
The first is still just a love seat prototype, but anyone willing to step forward and help Mr. Igor Chak will surely find a legion of buyers hurriedly measuring the dimensions of their (mother’s) basement in anticipation. Next to that, if you look closely you can recognize the DIY handiwork of “ushanz” found over at Etsy (which managed to stay on sale for a full 3 days).
While we’re on the subject, it seems appropriate to showcase one of the internet’s finest examples of DIY craftsmanship - the fully functioning NES Coffee Table/Controller/Storage Box! Ok so the name might need a little work, but you can head over to Kyle Downes’ ”Ultra Awesome” blog post for complete details on how to build your own!
In great company with PJ one weekend, over great convo and a few killer drinks later - this IS how you add your signature to one’s space! The iPod Touch also makes a great level, who knew! =) Thanks to PJ for a touch of color in my dwelling - PS, I LOVE IT!!!! =)

I have to admit the Canon PowerShot D790 IS is a wonderful point and shoot camera for your buck. It has given me MANY wonderful pictures over the years, both in and out of the water (pictures also seen on my previous post The Charming Sharm - Got Diving? with the optional Canon Waterproof Case WP-DC24) What a way to make one proud over the other DSLR cameras on the market; my picture made it on the Gizmodo Shooting Challenge: Fireworks! See the other amazing contest pictures [here] and my picture on flickr [here] [via Gizmodo]

If there’s one thing in this world that doesn’t need an explanation, it’s our love for hanging coats and hats on odd-shaped hooks placed prominently around the house. With that in mind, here’s a few intriguing wall hooks we have available that are sure to pique visitors’ interest. Pictured from left to right: the Spike Wall Hook (Set of 3), Mr and Mrs Wall Hooks and Harry Allen’s popular C’mere Hand Hook.

But as I start looking for new rugs for the living room… this one is at the top of my list—the ROADKILL Rug designed by Dutch design firm OOOMS is now available for a mere 3400 euros (shipping globally for just 7.50.... ) and really who can’t justify a 3407.50 euros to have a simulated flattened fox on the sitting room floor!?!? Click thru for the closeup of this faux carnage.
It only took 70 years, but Parker Brothers has finally released a modern revamp of its classic board game titled appropriately, ”Monopoly Revolution.” In addition to the redesigned board, it also features an electronic banking device - which we’ve seen before - but never to this great extent. Now I’m sure this fits into the gameplay somehow, but that same banking gadget also plays sound effects and songs (??) as well - from modern hits such as “Bad Day” and “Crazy in Love” to retro stylings such as “Rocket Man.” I’m really hoping the instruction manual explains all this.
The Hammock Table by Koichi Futatsumata - It’s not everyday you see stylish modern design intersect with pet products in such an elegant and seamless way. And when your cat inevitably gets bored with it, you can hold books or display flowers underneath. But then there’s the cost, how much do you love your cat? I doubt anyone has ever been “forced” onto a hammock, but at $3000.00 I’ll want my money’s worth. GNR8.
