Floating Swimming Pools. Wait, what?

Here’s a solution to polluted and dangerous swimming conditions - Thailand based company Mobideep just drops a full size swimming poll right onto the water! I can think of a few bodies of water around here that could use this, but don’t get your hopes up unless you are traveling to somewhere really rich and dirty. Come to think of it that could be almost anywhere. (Link via Contemporist)

The Versatile “Embrace” Bench/Table/Stool/Storage Unit

A simple yet elegant design, John Green’sEmbrace” is also highly versatile. With what amounts to a pair of interlocking tables, the many uses immediately come to mind: bench, stool, end table, laptop stand, magazine rack. It’s been racking up awards and praise and it’s easy to see why. Debuted at this year’s 100% Design and now available through Snowhome. (Photo via Notcot)

The “Flybrary” Bookshelf

Not just a bookshelf, the Flybrary holds a small collection of books which then forms another shelf. Designed by Satina Turner and available from Umbra, this is a great way to add a little extra storage space while making your book collection slightly harder to access.

American Girl’s Interpretation of Homeless

Meet Gwen - she’s a clean homeless lil’ gal with a nice summer dress, sandals, and unmatted hair “for styling”.  If only these are sold for a good cause!  And who is Chrissa!?

A Couple of ‘Twisted’ Furniture Designs

Here’s 2 highly functional and very striking pieces of modern furniture. The MYDNA Bookshelf by Joel Escalona - inspired by a DNA double helix - allows for greater flexibility and ease of use (I think), while the Twist Bench designed by Kenan Wang is made with bent wood and offers a distinct view in two separate directions, perfect for an open space.
