The Latest in Geek-Chic Furniture

Space Invaders has always one of those seminal favorites that inspires a feverish amount of fan art and craftwork. But a couple of nifty designs have been circling the blog-o’space lately that merit some attention:

The first is still just a love seat prototype, but anyone willing to step forward and help Mr. Igor Chak will surely find a legion of buyers hurriedly measuring the dimensions of their (mother’s) basement in anticipation. Next to that, if you look closely you can recognize the DIY handiwork of “ushanz” found over at Etsy (which managed to stay on sale for a full 3 days).

While we’re on the subject, it seems appropriate to showcase one of the internet’s finest examples of DIY craftsmanship - the fully functioning NES Coffee Table/Controller/Storage Box! Ok so the name might need a little work, but you can head over to Kyle Downes’ ”Ultra Awesome” blog post for complete details on how to build your own!

Frivolous Bike Accessories!

If you’re an urban professional who bikes to work, but has a distaste for messenger bags and otherwise sensible bike racks, why not completely overspend for a bike frame specially molded to carry your stuff? It even features the hilariously unfortunate name “A Bicycle Built for Tools.” via.

image

And if that still doesn’t signal to everyone your firm grasp of “bipedal” expertise, you’ll want to top off with a bike helmet that looks like a hat. They’re “tested according to international standards” so you know they’re good. And they even carry the moniker “Smart One,” which is not at all ironic. via.

Canon SD790 IS & a Gizmodo Shooting Challenge

I have to admit the Canon PowerShot D790 IS is a wonderful point and shoot camera for your buck.  It has given me MANY wonderful pictures over the years, both in and out of the water (pictures also seen on my previous post The Charming Sharm - Got Diving? with the optional Canon Waterproof Case WP-DC24) What a way to make one proud over the other DSLR cameras on the market; my picture made it on the Gizmodo Shooting Challenge: Fireworks!  See the other amazing contest pictures [here] and my picture on flickr [here] [via Gizmodo]

Shower With Love And Vitamin C

I have seen several Vitamin C shower systems on the market and have always wondered if they really work.  Seeing how much I love to take a shower and Vitamin C being the essential of all vitamins, I decided to give it a whirl.  After the first few uses I did not feel any difference.  However after week of using this product, I noticed my skin is softer and my hair feels like love!  Thumbs up for Vitamin C!

Sonaki’s product line appeared to be the best solution due to it’s minimal design and less invasive installation.  The Sonaki product kits are very simple and come complete with everything you need for the installation. They also offer a nice range of shower heads and filters you can purchase.  See the other benefits [HERE]

Sonaki‘s claim:
Sonaki’s Techno-Shower Filter is formulated with and made of 100 % natural and food grade Vitamin C, making it the best and safest way to remove chlorine from the tap water, and it is an ideal method to protect the sensitive skin from the chlorine. Sonaki claims the topical use of Vitamin C works as an anti-oxidant on the skin and makes hair shinier and softer.
Beyond the anti-oxidant Vitamin C prevailed in most kind of skincare products, now Sonaki Filtering Technology physically provides you with a natural resolution in the shower and bath.

Weird Coat Hooks (Because You Love Them)

If there’s one thing in this world that doesn’t need an explanation, it’s our love for hanging coats and hats on odd-shaped hooks placed prominently around the house. With that in mind, here’s a few intriguing wall hooks we have available that are sure to pique visitors’ interest. Pictured from left to right: the Spike Wall Hook (Set of 3), Mr and Mrs Wall Hooks and Harry Allen’s popular C’mere Hand Hook.

More Exciting Additions from Pure Modern!

Ok, so new Dining Chairs may not be the most exciting of possible additions, but at Pure Modern we’re always adding sleek furniture like this and it might not always be obvious when we do. So among all the juicy additions of late, here are a few interesting designs, starting with the Taft Dining Chair and its multiple finishes pictured below.

We feature something original for every room of the house, and frequently add cool new pieces such as these: the Sydney Stackable Chair, the Arden Occasional Lounge and the Jasper Side Chair (pictured below from left to right).

Unearthed from the George Nelson Archives!

These ceramic clocks were originally designed in 1953 and developed as far as the production stage, but for “reasons unknown” they never ultimately made it to the market. Now, reproduced by Vitra based on the original plans and prototypes, these evocative sculptures are beautifully crafted of glazed ceramic. Each clock includes a rechargeable battery so it will be ready-to-go out of the box! See them here.

Flameless Lighter - Would you own this?  (I might)

So we get solicited daily to offer products from all over the world.  It’s flattering—but sometimes people just ask us to review the strangest things.  Makes me wonder if they pay attention to who we are before they ask us to sell their product.  HOWEVER, this came across today… and it intrigued me.  So I’m curious ... would YOU use this?  Would you BUY this?

It’s a flameless lighter that is designed to light your cigarette (or cigar) by a battery operated coil.  Think car lighter.  It’s rechargeable by ... USB!  Suppose to last 250 lightings with a single charge.

Comes in all sorts of cool colors and designs.

Help us decide if we should carry this.... and if we do, we’ll give a few away to people that gave us input!

Give us input on our Facebook page [ VIEW HERE ]

roadkill wide.jpg

But as I start looking for new rugs for the living room… this one is at the top of my list—the ROADKILL Rug designed by Dutch design firm OOOMS is now available for a mere 3400 euros (shipping globally for just 7.50.... ) and really who can’t justify a 3407.50 euros to have a simulated flattened fox on the sitting room floor!?!? Click thru for the closeup of this faux carnage.
